Saidi S. Has Graduated College!

We have an exciting student success update! Saidi Mngenje Smoke was just a boy when we met him. Born and raised in the impoverished village of Mdondwe in Malawi, Saidi was the oldest of five children. His parents struggled to provide for the family, so Saidi carried a huge responsibility to help care for his siblings and contribute to their survival. For Saidi, attending high school and having a career beyond his village seemed like an unachievable and unrealistic dream. We learned about Saidi’s academic aptitude from a teacher who saw his potential. Good Soil Partners provided him with a scholarship to finish high school and a full scholarship for all four years of college. Saidi’s academic journey has been marked with awards and achievements—in fact he graduated from college with “Distinction.”Thanks to the support of Good Soil Partners student sponsors, Saidi became the first in his family to complete high school and the only member to ever attend university. “I am so inspired by what organizations like Good Soil Partners are doing to improve other people’s lives. I am so grateful to Good Soil Partners for its leadership in helping me to reach where I am today and achieve my academic success. Through your help I am now able to help my siblings and family with some basic needs and I am now looking forward to helping more and more people so that through me they can realize their potential.”- SaidiToday, Saidi works as an accountant and continues to help his family and community by tutoring young students in Good Soil Partners programs. Saidi received so much more than financial support from Good Soil Partners. Mentorship, encouragement, and leadership training are all part of our proven program that helps promising leaders like Saidi succeed!
