My Daughter is a Rising Star, and Brighter Days are Ahead of Her
Born in Chiuzira Village, 19 year old Emma has had to live her life in the dark corners of poverty, with her dreams seemingly out of reach. Emma wake's up everyday with the fear that her family's business would not be able to keep them afloat any longer. This is the typical life of many poverty-striken lives of young girls and boys in Malawi. Fortunately for Emma, her dreams were not completely shuttered. In 2016, Good Soil Partners lended a hand in her time of despair and offered her an opportunity to a fuller education.
"When I was told by my teacher that my secondary school education would be funded by Good Soil Partners, I felt great relief; born in a family of six children and knowing that my mother would not be able to pay for my education, I considered myself lucky because I knew that this was the start of great things to come," Emma explains.
Emma's mother says, "It is every mother's dream to see their children succeed in life, I am most certain that my daughter is a rising star, and brighter days are ahead of her. Also on my ' thank you list' is Good Soil Partners, for planting a seed of hope in Emma and making it possible for her to dream big. I look forward to the day she achieves her dream of being an Economist; surely I am a happy mother."
Four years down the line, Emma Chiwawo is a MSCE graduate from Nkhamenya Girls Secondary School and is praying and waiting to be enlisted to a prestigious university, having scored 14 points on her exams. Even though her parents went through a divorce, with her mother being her only support system, Emma believes that aspiration is not a defect for youngsters, and she awaits to accomplish her dream to become an Economist.
"I believe that becoming an Economist will enable me to be become a power source to help in canvassing the ugly slams of poverty in Malawi. "
