How It Works

Real Students. Real Need. Real Impact!
Your Support Today Provides for Their Success Tomorrow
How Does Sponsoring a Student Work?
We’ve Made It as Simple as 1, 2, 3

1. Select a Student
On our Sponsorship page, you’ll find a list of current students who are available for sponsorship and their photographs. You can view all the student photos or use the menu selection tools to narrow your selection based on gender, birth month, school level, or career path. Then all you need to do is select a student to sponsor.
All of our students have a great need for support. We have a waiting list of students seeking sponsorship. Help us support these students and change their lives forever.

2. Choose How Many "Seeds" to Donate
Once you have selected a student to sponsor, we ask you to choose the number of seeds to donate. We call this “Planting the Seeds of Hope.” Each seed is a $25 per month commitment. Your seed donation helps with student fees, school supplies, living expenses, food, housing, and general expenses for your student. You can choose to sponsor of a student in full or at any seed level. It’s your choice.

3. Receive Updates About Your Student
As a sponsor, you will receive an automatic update every three months on the progress of your student. You will hear from the student first-hand on what he or she is doing, how school work is going, and what activities he or she is involved in. You will see how your support is helping the student succeed and changing the trajectory of his or her life.

What It Means to Be a Sponsored Child
To become a Good Soil Partner scholarship student, each student goes through several interviews. We also interview the parents. Each student must submit an essay and sign an agreement that they will adhere to the behaviors outlined in the agreement or the scholarship will be rescinded. This may sound harsh, but our success rate has increased significantly when we provide strict guidelines for our students to succeed. We also believe that our sponsors deserve to know their investment in our students is a wise choice.
Sponsorship Resources
Because our support embraces the whole student, we provide all the resources each young person needs to thrive in difficult situations. Every student that is fully sponsored receives:
- School fees, testing and exam fees
- Books and supplies
- Housing
- Food
- Computer
- Uniforms and other clothing
- Mentorship
- Leadership training and development
- Career guidance and support
- Entrepreneurship development
What It Means to Be a Sponsor
Being a sponsor is pretty special. You are making an investment in the education of a young person and building the future leaders of Malawi. Most of our sponsors do not personally meet the student or students they support. But they get to know the students through written updates where they can witness the remarkable young men and women these students become. These regular updates also provide reassurance that your donation is going to a good cause. As a sponsor, you have the potential to shape and form the next generation of Malawi and potentially to impact an entire country.
Sponsors receive:
- Tax-deductible donation
- Quarterly updates on students
- Confidence that your investment/donation is making a difference in a young person’s life

Frequently Asked Questions About Sponsoring a Child
Are other people sponsoring the same child?
People may be sponsoring the same child depending on your total donation and the cost of the students school and examination fees, school supplies, school uniforms and basic needs of secondary students. College students may also have more than one sponsor due to cost of tuition fees, stipend for boarding and food, writing materials and a computer.
How long will I sponsor the same student?
Length of sponsorship for a student is your choice. We are thankful for the donations we receive. Good Soil Partners would be grateful to receive sponsorship of a student that follows her/him through their education either in secondary or college/higher education. It would be great if you could help a child from their teenage years all the way through to them being productive adults thriving and helping the future of Malawi succeed.
What does my donation go toward?
Your donation will go toward student tuition, we support children in Secondary (High) Schools, in National Schools and Colleges. All of these students were chosen based on their high academic abilities, passing government exams and an application process completed by Good Soil Partners Board of Directors and local advisory person. The costs involved for each student ranges based on their particular circumstances, some of the things we provide are; tuition, room and board, food, school supplies and fees, school uniforms, computer, leadership training, as well as career & development opportunities.
Will my sponsored child write to me?
If you choose to sponsor a student, you will receive updates on a quarterly basis from the website.
