A Field Report from Malawi

We have had a lot of exciting work happening at Good Soil Partners! With both Steven + Cindy in Malawi, projects, events, community service acts, and more have been taking off. We have been quite busy!

In this post, we’ll share:

-A recap of both of our handouts: To GSP Secondary Student Scholars and excelling students in Kang’oma village

-The work that has been happening behind the scenes for our school land site

Distribution Day

Giving is one of the core values of Good Soil Partners. We recognize that our core values that we hold forms the foundation on which we perform work and conduct ourselves. Giving is so natural to Good Soil Partners and many lives have been transformed through such acts.

At the end of May, the GSP team visited Kang’oma Primary and Secondary School in order to award excelling students with school supplies, such as backpacks and writing pens. This was done with Cindy Chartier (GSP Co-Founder), who was responsible for handing out the backpacks to the different students at both primary and secondary school. The two schools are located in Area  23, Lilongwe, Malawi and none of these students are a part of the GSP Student Scholarship. This was done as part of giving back to the community, as well as a part of motivating other students, as the scholars were handed backpacks because they did well in their exams for the first term of the 2020/2021 academic year.

One student, Levison Thyomi says, “Being academically acknowledged by Good Soil Partners, is an added triumph  over our success, and this has not only made us happy but also has uplifted our  spirits and inspired us to do more and thrive towards our dreams.”

Good Soil Partners is proud of each and every student and we hope that one day we will be able to give away backpacks to everyone!

Our other GSP school supplies distribution was to our GSP Secondary Student Scholars. We distributed 42 hardcover books, 56 pens, 21 pencils, 21 washing soaps, and 3 sanitary pads to each of the girls. We also had one of our successful student scholars, Amos Chipata, come and give an encouraging speech! We are so proud of our students and what they have accomplished!

GSP Land Site & News

Every Wednesday, our GSP members meet together to pray for our grand vision and mission. It takes a lot of faith to trust in the Lord's plan for us, but we are striving to lean into His will every day. We have been working with contractors for our future building structures, speaking about electrical installation on our land for power, looking at example houses for GSP, and visiting schools like Kamuzu Academy and Rise Malawi to gain a better picture of what we want our GSP school to look like. We even acquired much-needed operational vehicles that will ease the logistical challenges we have been facing.

God is moving in GSP and Malawi, and we are thankful for all of His provisions! Amen.
